Jaron's 2!

Well, he actually turned 2 last week, but today he had his 2 years old doctor's appointment. It went as well as can be expected for a 2 year old who does not like being confined. His stats were 31.2 lbs and 35.5 inches. Yup, he's almost 3 feet tall! He's in the 80th percentile for weight and 75 percent on height. I did the "find out how tall you're child will be" thing on BabyCenter.com. It says he will be approximately 6 ft tall at 18 yrs. We shall see in 16 years. He is talking as well as any toddler. He has somewhere over 70 words and has put 2 word sentences together like, "sit down," and "let's go!" He loves being outside and right now he likes watching Pixar's Cars, Finding Nemo and Wall-E. Cars is his number 1 movie, he watches it almost every morning when he wakes up. When he grows up, he says he wants to be a Doctor...just kidding...a mother can dream can't she. He's favorite item is my hair, and has been since he could grab it. The Paci and Teddy are fine, but in the end he must play with my hair. He now has to play with my hair before he goes to sleep. Sometimes I wish he would stop, but I know that when he does, I'll miss him doing it. I have not uploaded the pictures from his party, but when I do I'll get them posted. Here's a picture we took a couple weeks ago of him eating his kid sized hamburger at BurgerHut.

Obama a Sith Lord?

Okay, so I'm kind of homebound today and so I am watching the Star Wars movies. Anyway, I realized that Life might be imitating Art imitating Life. Here's the reasons I believe that Obama may be a Sith Lord.
5. He has an apprentice... her name is Lord Clinton
4. He knows and understands the principle of balance. (and consistantly fights to unbalance the force.)
3. He doesn't have a problem with stepping on the people who got him where he is.
2. He has a plan that no one knows and his plan was not truely made known to the people until after his comming into power.
1. His entire goal is control and power over others. He has no problem with taking away agency from those he has power over... infact the less power others have... the better.

Lately, I've been ruminating on this very question. With the state of the economy and Obama making it worse, tonight's "Earth Hour" when everyone was supposed to turn their lights off for an hour to conserve energy, or reduce carbon emissions, or some such nonsense (btw, I didn't), Obama's total disregard for human life ("Freedom of Choice Act" repealing the Mexico City Policy, pork barrel spending to Planned Parenthood, trying to make veterans pay medical bills for injuries received while serving the country, and the list goes on), attempts to take away our second amendment rights, current discussions on a worldwide currency (see: the poached frog)(by the way, the guy who recommends a worldwide currency is from Communist China, and Tax-Cheat Geitner (the incompetent) thinks its a good idea), and a plethora of other topics, it feels like the bullet train headed there is accelerating. I feel like throwing my hands up and shouting "Jane! Get me off this crazy thing!"

they are trying to ban black cars in the state of california because black causes you to use your a/c more. really?! are there studies to back that up, or is this just more of their hippy liberal, tree hugging propaganda? I think you can guess which I think it is.

another mobile blog

to my loyal readers, forgive me for not posting in a while. no, the gov't did not shut me down :), the wireless card in the laptop broke. sitting in class just now, I heard a student talking about the new presidential dollar coins she just received as change. she said that she thought they were fake. she also said that pres. martin van buren was on the coins and said "i didn't even know there was a president van buren." and since this is a spanish class ppl started talking about cesar chavez and the same student said "they say he (chavez) did more than any president." what kind of liberal hippy crap do they teach here?!

Lara's 4 Month Appointment Update and Pictures

Oop! I made an error with her weight. I fixed it. Kind of funny that I didn't catch that I put a weight that was less than when she was born =)
We had Lara's 4 month appointment on Tuesday. She is weighed 16 lbs 8 oz and was 27 1/4 inches. She is in the 99th percentile for height and 92nd percintile for weight. This is the first time she has been less than the 99th percentile for weight. If this is any indication that she is going to be tall, she has grown an average of over 1.25 inches a month. She is working on crawling already, we'll see when she finally accomplishes it. She is drooling and gnawing like crazy, but the doctor said she does not feel any teeth coming in. I'm really not in a hurry to deal with biting anyways. We find Lara is sensitive to over stimulation. We can go only one place a day and she is done. If we overdo it, she has a hard time settling and she will scream for an hour or two at night solid. She is trying to slow this fast paced mommy down =) I'm not sure how well she will do the next time we travel to Sacramento to visit. We'll find out in a couple of weeks.

New Virus

I just wanted to drop a quick note of something that's been trying to attack our computer so y'all can avoid it. I think its gotta be a virus, but I don't know what its called or what it would do if it successfully infected. Listen to the chain of events and I think you'll agree that its suspicious. The last couple nights while Corrina has been working on the computer, a window would pop up saying that our computer may have been infected and that "Antivirus 360" (or some other program) would do a thorough and free scan to fix it if we hit continue. RED FLAG: we already have NORTON 360 installed on our computer, so any scan is free and it never calls itself Antivirus 360. Corrina was smart and clicked cancel, then its starts popping up all these othewindows warning you that if you hit cancel your computer will be infected and crash, etc. The browser window then makes it look like it is scanning your hardrive and identifying multiple trojans, etc. and asks you to run an application to install it and fix the viruses. Corrina was smart and immediatley closed all windows, without installing anything, and ran our own antivirus software and, sure enough, no trojans, just a couple low threat tracking cookies. Last night it happened while we were investigating (cautiously) a suspicious website, so I wasn't surprised. But the crazy thing is, the night before it happened while Corrina was facebooking. Once again, fortunately Corrina realized it was suspicious and immediately ran our own antivirus. I just wanted y'all to be informed so you don't get tricked either.

P.S. does anyone know of any government installations in Mountain View California? :-) I was looking at the Feedjit gadget that tracks hits to my blog and approximately 2 days ago someone from Mountain View running a Linux OS visited my Wheel of Fortune Typo post several times and now I'm paranoid the government is keeping an eye on me and that I'll be labeled an enemy of the state because of my posts about Obama. :-) I'm just kidding, but it is kinda strange to see someone running Linux. :-)

An Interesting Conversation

Today we took Jaron to the park after Lara's doctor's appointment. While there I met a mom wth a 2 1/2 year old son and she was pregnant with their second son, due in 5 weeks. On a side note, she did not look that far along and she definitatly had more energy and looked really good for being due in 5 weeks (I may be a little jealous). I asked her if she knew if she was having a girl or boy and she said a boy. She told me that she and her husband did not find out with their first, but they wanted to be a little more prepared this time around. I mentioned that now that I have a girl and a boy, the next one we may let be a surprise. She then told me that this baby is it for them. She said that had she been younger she would probably have more.
This sparked my thought process. I thought about how interesting it is that the world tells women to have children later, live your life and do everything you want before children, finish school, have a career, wait until you are financially set in life. I'm not sure if this is what the mother I met today did or if there were other circumstances outside her control, but how sad that would be if she did follow the world's advice and now feels that it's too late to have more children. How would you feel if you went up to Heavenly Father and told him that you would have had more children if you had started sooner, and then know that it was by your choices that you did not? By living the principles of the gospel and prayerfully deciding on when to have a family and how many children to have, we know that we will be able to stand before our Heavenly Father and have no regrets.
I'm so grateful for the gospel and that Heavenly Father does not want us to listen to the ways of the world. I feel that it's a great experience for our children to see us struggle through the trials of having a family while persuing our educational goals. Our children will see we did not always have everything and this will hopefully help them to understand you cannot always have everything "on time" and it's alright.
I just want to end this by saying I understand there are outside circumstances we cannot control which may lead us to not have as big of a family as desired. This post was not aimed at those in this situation. I was just referring to those who willfully choose to disregard Heavenly Father's plan for them. For those who do not have a choice, I hope the Holy Ghost is able to provide comfort and peace in times of pain. Heavenly Father knows the desire of your hearts and he joys in knowing that you are willing. I'm grateful that we have the promise that if we are unable to have children in mortality (or even if we do), we will be able to have an unlimited family if we achieve exaltation.

We're excited for both families. Jaron and Lara can't wait to meet their new cousins and for the opportunity to play together. We hope it will be soon, but both live in other states. Congratulations David and Devon and Will and Nancy!

Where Did My Newborn Go

Lara just turned 4 months old on Wednesday. I weighed her on Thursday and she is now 16lbs 11oz. We have not measured her, but the doctor will at Lara's appointment on Tuesday and I'll update then. I can't believe how much she has changed. She can roll over both directions, bear weight on her arms, and has more control of her hands (she can put large objects in her mouth and can grab at some of her toys). She loves to talk to everything (seriously...she's even talked to a thermostat). Jaron can't wait for her to be able to rough house with him. He is always trying to lay on her. The thing is, most of the time she smiles when he does. Lara is so attentive and likes to watch everything. Instead of saying she is easily distracted, I'm saying she likes to admire all of God's creations. She loves to play with toys and chew on everything she gets her hands on (hem of her dress, blankets, fingers, toys, etc.). I look at her at times and think, "Where did my newborn baby go?" I'll post pictures when I can.

Fiscal Irresponsibility

Obama has been president for a little over 50 days now and not only has he signed the porculus bill worth $787 Billion Dollars, he also recently signed the Omnibus Bill worth $410 Billion of taxpayer money. All he's doing is spending money we don't have, and last time I checked, that type of fiscal irresponsibility is what got us in this mess in the first place. Some people try to blame the mortgage crisis on predatory lenders approving people for mortgages the lenders knew the borrowers couldn't afford. I ask, do these people always do business blindly without researching the terms and conditions, etc? If so, I've got a bridge I'd love to sell them in the Bay Area.

Some people might try to defend Obama's decisions by saying Pres. Bush did the same with the bank bailout and the auto maker bail out and those didn't fix it. My response: Does that show that Barry is incapable of learning from other people's mistakes? Congratulations America, you've elected a teenager/child to be your leader.

Starbucks

As I was walking from my car to school, I saw a bumper sticker that set my mind to ruminating:

My mind started ruminating about the uproar I overheard when we first moved to Chico about how many Starbucks' there were in town. For those who don't know, Chico is adamantly against growth, wants to stay a small town, and many people are against anything like Walmart, Starbucks, etc. I don't drink coffee, but I do enjoy their hot chocolate, but when I saw the bumper sticker, I started thinking about how un-capitalistic their opinion. They complain that Starbucks is going to drive the little guys out and that is bad for the community. I argue that, in a free market economy, jobs are jobs. Sure, the entrepreneurial spirit should be encouraged and supported, but that entrepreneur better have something that people want or they're not going to last, no matter what the competition is. If they want to own a coffee shop and their little one goes under, they can always buy a franchise. Starbucks is obviously successful and in demand here, otherwise, the supply would not be what it is (Econ 101, people). Why does Chico want to drive Starbucks and Walmart out? they provide jobs for locals. Its not like when they set up shop, they ship in a squadron of clones or outsiders to work there, they provide jobs for those that live here.

Jaron Tells Daddy To Kiss Mommy

This morning I was having a rough time. I had not slept well (went to bed late...my fault...and both babies woke up at 4:45am and went back and forth on keeping me up until around 6:30am and then both of them woke up for the day at 7:45am). Dave came home from work and could see that I was fried. He did not say anything. He took Lara and put fresh water by the bed and then told Jaron to tell me goodnight. After Jaron gave me a kiss, he looked at me and then told Dave, "Kiss, Kiss." It was so cute! We laughed and Dave kissed me. Then I laid down and took a nap. Jaron's such a cutie pie. I'm so glad he is a part of our family!

Tax Season? and throwing out tradition

How does Obama intend to fix the economy when he appoints to his cabinet several people who should all be charged with tax evasion? And where does Geitner get the cajones to proclaim that they are going to crack down on tax evaders. Clean thine own house first Obama!

This might be old news to most everybody, but I had the chance to ruminate on it this week: It seems that Obama intends to spit in the face of 164 years of tradition by no longer having the United States Marine Band play Hail to the Chief whenever he enters. Instead, it appears he is replacing it with Sting's "Desert Rose". If he insists on changing the song, perhaps "Its the End of the World as We Know it" would be a more appropriate/accurate choice. A Letter From Lara

Dear Teeth,
I am writing in regards to the pain my mouth has been in for the last few days. I know that this is a natural process that all babies go through. My older brother, Jaron, tells me that teething was relatively easy for him. There were only one or two times that bothered him a little bit. Other than that, he felt ok as his teeth were coming in. Why is it that this teething thing is not going so easily for me? I have tried gnawing on everything in sight, but you still will not come in. My Mommy and Daddy have tried giving me teething tablets, Tylenol, pacifier, swaddling me among other things, but my mouth still hurts. I do not want to eat, which is making life harder on Mommy and Daddy. My Mommy and Daddy look like they want to pull their hair out. I’m really excited to meet you! Please come soon so that life can be wonderful again.
